La Merced’s Emer-Campo program targets individuals who live in rural areas with little to no access to health service. In these regions, the ability to recognize types of wound and injuries is of vital importance. When it is so difficult to reach medical attention, people in rural areas must recognize when a wound is serious and in need of attention from a health center as well as what to do while help comes. The wound simulator would enable FIMRC to have a greater impact on the individuals enrolled in our course program. The wounds simulator would allow participants to truly imagine what a wound looks like. The simulator highlights severity as well as various degrees and types of injuries; it also assists in training about the appropriate treatment for each type of wound. This tool would add a real-life component to our workshops and allow participants to experience learning by sight and touch through an interactive classroom experience. This simulator would help our course participants better remember various types of wounds as well as the appropriate treatment.
