Mothers’ centers are core groups formed by women of each community that lead a variety of local initiatives. FIMRC partners with a number of different mothers’ centers to support these groups in offering health education programs that address needs identified by community leaders. These centers allow us to integrate further within each community of the municipality and to address their expressed needs.

As a result of the recent development of new programs targeting adults and the high level of interest the mothers’ centers have expressed, we have begun running programs covering nutrition, diabetes and hypertension, and cancer. We plan to reach out to the mothers’ centers in the municipality that are active to implement this program; our hope is to run at least one program by the end of 2019. Each course lasts approximately two months and costs include healthy snacks for participants, transportation, educational materials for each participant and a certificate for each graduate.
