One of the main tenets of our Post-Test Club (a club comprised of HIV-positive adults who meet weekly) is the ability to generate income to ensure the financial security for club members, through successful methods such as a savings club and the accumulation of communally-owned livestock. Among their many creative proposals was the idea to purchase a boda-boda (motorcycle taxi). Bodas are the primary method of transportation around the Bududa area, and there is a high demand for these on a daily basis. By purchasing a boda, painting it in a high-visibility, FIMRC PTC color scheme, and having either a PTC member or one of their licensed relatives drive the boda, we can ensure a steady and reliable income stream that will cover fuel and maintenance, with the leftover money going into the PTC’s savings. The presence of the boda driving around Bududa would have the additional benefit of advertising FIMRC around the area.
