Project Bududa’s clinic stands apart due to its emphasis on data collection, reporting, and inter-station communication. However, due to the prohibitively high cost of Microsoft Office (~230 USD for a lifetime purchase of one copy), most of our computers are using open source freeware word processors, which are inefficient, slow, and cause trouble whenever staff try to share documents or information with each other. By purchasing 3 copies of Microsoft office, we hope that all of our clinic computers will then be up-to-date and our staff will have a much easier time sharing records, reports, and any relevant information that is necessary to providing quality patient care. Microsoft Office will greatly enhance and improve FIMRC’s ability to analyze and organize clinic data. In regard to sustainability, clinic staff will also be able to perform independent word processing tasks without the help of outside volunteer assistance.
