FIMRC rural clinic is serving four communities in Kodaikanal and covers a population size of more than 5,000 situated in its locality. As a recent addition to the clinic, a local OB/GYN is visiting twice a week to facilitate female patients better as load is predominantly higher than male. There is still, however, a lack of basic equipment like a foetal doppler to assess the antenatal mothers who come for regular check-ups during their pregnancy; because of this it is difficult for us to serve our patients better. With our own foetal doppler scan we can avoid referring cases to other clinics so the patients don’t end up paying huge fees to get one. Also with its portable size, we can carry it along with us during our outreach camps to the neighboring villages.
