Our OVC (orphans and vulnerable children) club comprises nearly thirty children who are HIV-positive and/or have lost one or both parents or are otherwise identified as being at risk. While the club does an admirable job of taking care of these children, enabling them to have healthy and happy childhoods, and maintaining community buy-in to their well-being, funding limitations unfortunately mean that once OVCs turn 18, they must start to support themselves. A large number of our OVCs are rapidly approaching age 18 and so Project Bududa would like to institute vocational training in two locally in-demand fields so that these OVCs can have hard skills to enable their self-sufficiency in the future: carpentry and tailoring. With funds raised for these projects, FIMRC will be able to pay for tools (saws, hammers, sewing machines) and materials (lumber and fabric) along with instructions and apprenticeships with local tailors and craftsmen, so that the OVCs will have a steady income stream in the future.

FIMRC is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit dedicated to providing modern medical care to disadvantaged families worldwide. Learn more at www.fimrc.org.
