In 2015 FIMRC chapters raised money for our OVCs (all of whom are living with HIV) to install a fenced garden at home (Phase I). The goal was to provide a secure area safe from livestock and thieves. To date gardens have provided all 23 OVCs with an important source of daily nutrition allowing them to have the energy needed to attend school, play, and complete household tasks. With two successful growing seasons behind us we’re looking forward to expanding the project from household nutrition to income generation.

Phase II will focus on expanding gardens to a size capable of providing enough vegetables to sell and pay for school fees, further improve diets, and build savings. Based on Phase I of the OVC Garden Project we feel confident this will dramatically improve the lives of the OVCs. Below is a breakdown of the costs associated with each OVC garden expansion.
