Our lab is growing and is currently in need of a refrigerator to expand services for our patients. The lab recently acquired a liver function analyzer machine, and a fridge is necessary in order to store the reagents for all 12 liver function tests and 6 renal function tests that the machine can perform. This will allow lab to open up a whole new front in the fight for community health for ailments that may fly under the radar due to the lack of availability of such tests.

In addition to pairing with the new liver function machine, a fridge will also allow lab to determine the blood type of patients, which is especially important for MCH, as mothers who we refer to Bududa Hospital for difficult deliveries can immediately receive blood transfusions without there being a delay because the mother doesn’t know her blood type. Finally, the fridge will enable our lab workers to store Brucella and typhoid tests.

In summary, we’re always looking for ways to improve our services and having a fridge in lab would be a huge step forward for the health centre, its staff, and patients!
