Proyecto Teatro Juvenil, or Youth Theater, is a program that aims to educate young adults ages 12-20 in the community on important health topics in a unique and creative way. Many important health themes, such as sexual and reproductive health, drug and alcohol abuse, and HIV prevention, can be difficult to discuss with adults in the community. Over a two-month period, our youth theater club will learn about expressing themselves through theater, identifying the health problems facing themselves and their peers, and developing an educational performance to share with community members. The final product will be presented in various community spaces to different audiences, free of charge. The budget will be used for materials, costumes and makeup, publicity and transportation costs.
