Emercampo was set up because there are many communities that still struggle to reach a health center and because many people lack the information that can help reduce the risks of injury, infection, and possibly death. For instance, after teaching a mother in a native community how to clean minor open wounds her daughter had on her legs and arms, two weeks later the wounds started to heal preventing the child’s skin from getting infected.

The first aid kit will help our participants apply the information received through Emercampo. Currently, we have rolled out Emercampo to the city of Pichanaki, the community of Belen, and finished our Mini First Aiders program at a school. We hope to double our reach by next year. The first kid kits will help us incentivize our participants as well as help the participants of Emercampo apply what they have learned.
