Anemia is one of the most common disorders seen at our rural clinic due to poor nutritional status and lifestyle. Iron deficiency anemia is preventable by supplementing nutritious diet rich in iron from both meat and vegetable sources. Iron deficiency anemia in India is rampant among children below the age of three (78.9%) and women (55%) and it is also one of the top cause for the 20% of maternal deaths. FIMRC will be conducting a study on anemia and its effects on pregnant women giving birth to low weight babies. Through this study we intend to design an intervention program targeting pregnant women and children with iron deficiency anemia.
