100% of all donations made towards this campaign will be used directly in support of Project Limón, Nicaragua.

Project Limón currently runs a Diabetes Program within eight of the surrounding communities. Diabetes is one disease that remains highly uncontrolled in the area due to a diet rich in carbohydrates and sugar, lack of education, and lack of availability of medications. In this program, community representatives received training on how to use glucometers to check blood sugars and are responsible for home-visits with the diabetics within their communities giving a health talk monthly and checking their blood sugars at least weekly. Based on the number of health talks given, the various representatives and their communities receive monthly supplies of glucometer strips.

Sometimes we would receive a years supply of these glucometer test strips from volunteer groups that come to Nicaragua. Now that volunteers are not coming the need for these strips is so much higher. The funds raised for this project will go towards buying those strips for each of the eight communities.
