Though global health efforts commonly focus on infectious diseases, the burden of chronic diseases is growing rapidly in the developing world. FIMRC-DR runs a community-based diabetes and hypertension program in three of our communities. In this program, patients receive education regarding the management of these illnesses as well as monthly consultations and prescription refills in coordination with a chronic disease specialist who visits our site once a month.

To keep up with the needs of an ever-growing number of people suffering from these chronic illnesses, this project will fund the purchase of medication, glucose strips, new chairs needed for the patients while they wait to be assessed, trays to count the pills, and any other items needed for the operations of the club.
