The kids’ club Chicas Maravillas and Chicos Superman was one of the first projects implemented in Project Anconcito when the site opened in 2016. Three years later, FIMRC has worked with over 240 boys and girls ages 8-12, giving classes about nutrition, hygiene, and exercise, as well as life skills like healthy decision-making, self-esteem, goal setting, and conflict resolution. Last summer, with the help of FIMRC volunteers, FIMRC developed a new curriculum for Chicas Maravillas and Chicos Superman: Episode II.

The program has been working in each neighborhood, this time with kids ages 9-13, on slightly more advanced topics, like first aid, bullying, human rights, teamwork, and mosquito borne illnesses. The goal has been to provide the second level of the course to all of our initial graduates, as well as any other kids that are interested in the program.

$200 will help to continue providing materials and supplies for the classes throughout the year, including cake and diplomas to celebrate the student’s accomplishments at the end of the course!
