The municipal hospital in Restauración is considered a third level hospital according to the Health Care system in the Dominican Republic, but unfortunately there is still no cardiologist on site.

Economically it is next to impossible for some of our patients to make the much needed trip to get a consultation. Our specialist, Dr. Lesly, recommends at least one consultation a year when a patient has either hypertension or diabetes.

This project will allow FIMRC to bring a cardiologist to the project site at least twice a year so we can have them use the portable EKG we have, and offer a consultation to our patients who need it the most. The project covers the logistical costs of preparing for such consultations as well as the transportation for the specialist.
